About Rug Pad USA
Rug Pad USA eco-friendly rug pads are safe for your floors and your home, since green manufacturing and sustainability are at the heart of their business. They offer a wide range of rug pads that are made out of safe, 100% chemical free materials. Here are the different types that they offer:
Eco-Solid and Eco-Cushion Pads: For these rug pads, they replaced some of the petrochemical content associated with traditional rug pads (petrol based oils often give off the unpleasant rubbery smells associated with traditional non-slip rug pads), so they’re chemical and odour free!
Premium-Lock Pads: These rug pads are LEED Certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for recycled materials and innovation in design, which help to reduce the burden on landfills and resource heavy manufacturing. Good karma, and a good rug pad!
Eco-Fiber Pads: These rug pads are essentially made up of carpet and yarn fibers. The materials in this rug pad are GREEN PLUS Certified, LEED Certified, and MBDC Cradle-to-Cradle Certified by the Carpet and Rug Institute.
Super-Lock Natural and Econo-Lock Natural Pads (my pick!): These rug pads are made with natural rubber materials from rubber trees. It is one of the safest materials to use over polyurethane and glossy floor finishes and provides superior non-slip grip over traditional pvc rug pads.
An added bonus is that all of Rug Pad USA’s pads are made locally in the USA by American Workers, which gives a superior level of quality control over materials, and provides fair wages for the workers (a win win for everyone!)
Made from rubber trees, natural rubber rug pads are an eco-friendly alternative to traditional plastic, pvc, and synthetic latex pads. In addition to its eco-friendly properties, natural rubber is one of the safest materials to use on your wood floors and finishes more prone to staining. And open celled natural rubber (used in Rug Pad USA’s pads) also offers a better non-slip grip and long term durability over traditional PVC rug pads.
Choosing a Rug Pad
The folks over at Rug Pad USA make it easy to choose a rug pad. They grade rugs based on three criteria: cushion, durability, and grip, and tell you what flooring each rug pad works with, and what type of rug each pad is recommended for. I chose mine, the Super-Lock Natural Rubber in a snap. Before visiting Rug Pad USA’s website, I had no idea what I was looking for in a rug pad, but their product descriptions made it easy to match my rugs to the rug pad they needed. In the end, I chose the Super-Lock Natural Rubber rug pad because it was the best rug pad for laminate flooring, and this type of rug pad was designed for all types of rugs, so it would work with my thin, cotton rug in my living room, as well as my thicker, high pile Moroccan shag rug in my bedroom.

Rug Pad Review
Overall, I was extremely happy with my Super-Lock Natural Rubber rug pads. As I said before, they worked for both my thin, cotton rug in my living room, as well as my thicker, high pile Moroccan shag rug in my bedroom. Because both were in high-traffic areas, the supreme grip on the Super-Lock Natural Rubber rug pad was a huge asset. Now when friends visit, the cotton rug in my living room is super secure, and it isn’t bunching up under their feet or sliding out of place. What’s more, the rubber pad provides extra cushioning under the rug, so it’s way more comfy to walk on. And in my bedroom, my Moroccan shag rug feels much more grounded, and doesn’t move out of place when I walk across my bedroom or vacuum the room.
The only fault I could find in the Super-Lock Natural Rubber rug pad is that when used with a thinner rug such as the cotton rug in my living room, it bunches up when you move furniture (e.g. my coffee table) around on it. This may be due to the traction between the rubber and the cotton material, and not a fault of the rug pad itself, or a mismatching between rug and rug pad, on my part (which can be avoided by asking for help from a sales associate on the site!) Either way, I conclude that Rug Pad USA rug pads are a sound investment for any home, and I give the Super-Lock Natural Rubber rug pad an 8/10!
